Less Miserable Tech is designed to collect as little visitor information as practical. This page explains what the site itself does and what may happen when you choose to use media hosted elsewhere.

Site data

The site does not currently use visitor analytics, advertising trackers, account registration, or marketing cookies. Standard server logs may record technical details such as an IP address, requested page, browser type, and timestamp for security and operational troubleshooting.

External media

Podcast and video links are provided through third-party services. YouTube hosts video, and Captivate hosts podcast audio and subscription services. Those providers may receive technical information and apply their own privacy policies when you follow a link or choose to load their media.

Episode pages contact YouTube only after you choose to load its embedded player. Playing podcast audio supplied by Captivate contacts its media delivery service and may follow tracking redirects. These providers may measure playback and downloads under their own privacy policies; using an embedded player does not make those requests anonymous.

Video and audio files hosted by Less Miserable Tech use this site's media origin and the standard server logs described above. Player preferences are not saved in browser storage. External media is not requested before you activate it or follow a provider link.

Changes and questions

This notice will be updated if the site adds analytics, forms, accounts, or other services that change how visitor data is handled. Effective September 16, 2026.
